Biodiversity is life!

Grade 6's,

On Monday we are beginning a new unit.  Can you guess what it is?  I chose to do this unit a little later than usual, only because we have been discussing Earth Day and human impact on nature and earth.  Earth Day was a definite introduction to this unit.  There is lots to cover, and lots of neat things.

2010 was marked as the year of Biodiversity, biodivCanada website was launched in which you will find biodiversity news, events, ecosystem status and trends. 

The video below demonstrates awareness for biodiversity.  It vividly shows how human hands have control and power to do good & bad.  Be sure to examine the video as well as the elements used to cause awareness and carry the message forward.  We will be creating awareness posters for biodiversity, so use this for ideas!
